Hello everyone,

to be honest, it is what I expected. And as a railway fan, I understand people like Daniel think in terms of "funky ships".

Here are some thoughts:

1. High-speed trains allow day travel across distances that were covered before only by night trains.
2. Night trains are very cost-inefficient: many personnel is needed and the material has long standing times.
3. Railway operators cannot live from railway fans alone.
4. If a private railway operator is willing to invest, it can continue night services (EuroExpress does this).
5. We are living in the Twitter era, in which everyone may call himself a journalist. Seeing is believing!

- Direct CNL train DO-M via Mannheim on the weekend and daily in the summer-time
- Direct CNL train HH-ZH via Mannheim on the weekend and daily in the summer-time
Travellers to/from Amsterdam are advised to use ICE F-AMS and change in Duesseldorf

Concerning Amsterdam:

1. due to the 1500 V DC voltage system, travel to the Netherlands is rather expensive. Special locos are needed.
2. Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer may not provide enough facilities to maintain night trains, at least not as much as in Dortmund or Hamburg.
3. from a DB point of view, it is more interesting to pick up Dutch night train passengers by "ICE International" rather than bring them there directly with CNL.
