Hello ICE fans,

im Westen von London soll ein neuer Fernbahnhof kommen: Old Oak Common.
Baustart war gestern. ConstructionGlobal berichtet.

Die HS2-Webseite redet von "14 platforms". Sind damit Bahnsteige oder Gleise gemeint? Ein ziemlicher Unterschied:

HS2’s Old Oak Common station will offer unrivalled connectivity, with 14 new platforms; six HS2 platforms offering high speed services to the North and Midlands, four Crossrail – or Elizabeth Line – platforms, and four conventional rail platforms, which will be served by trains to Wales and the South West.

Die Animation zeigt 14 Gleise, nicht 28. Also 6 (unterirdische) Renngleise, 4 Gleise S-Bahn (Crossrail, vor allem wegen Flughafen Heathrow) und 4 Gleise Regio/IC Richtung West. Vielleicht "unrivalled" in UK aber nicht weltweit, denn der Berliner Hbf hat 8 Tiefgleise, 4 Hochgleise, 2x S-Bahn.

Im CG-Artikel sehen wir Impressionen von Old Oak Common. Das ist nicht der Endbahnhof von HS2; das ist London Euston. Der eurostar (HS1) endet in London St. Pancras. Eine Highspeed-Verbindung HS1-HS2 ist s.i.w. nicht vorgesehen. Also muss man mit dem ÖPNV (Overground? Underground? Crossrail?) reisen, wie in Paris.
