Hallo ICE-Fans,

auch Indien möchte in das HGV-Geschäft einsteigen.
Obwohl einige 160 km/h schnelle 24-Wagen-Expresszüge dort schon "high-speed train" genannt werden, hat das Land die Absicht, für die Strecke Mumbai-Ahmedabad japanische Shinkansen-Technologie zu verwenden ("bullet train").

Leider ist die geplante Inbetriebnahme für 2023 um einige Jahre aufgeschoben worden:

While civil tenders for nine of the 14 packages worth approximately Rs 450bn ($US 6.3bn) were floated last year, these remain to be finalised, largely because of requests from domestic contractors for more time to complete their bid documents. The Indian government recently announced plans to award bigger contracts to domestic contractors as a means of cutting costs. But such a strategy does not seem to be working, as none of the domestic companies have the expertise or capacity to handle such large ticket contracts.

Zwar hat auch COVID-19 einiges Negatives gemacht, aber die wirklichen Gründe sind gravierender:

Project cost has also risen on account of the fluctuation in the Rupee-Yen conversion rate. While depreciation costs are covered under the agreement, conversion costs have not been accounted for.

Gut, mal sehen, wie das abläuft. Die Strecke ist 508 km lang. 2:00 bis 2:30 sollten doch möglich sein. Allerdings: wenn man das 160 km/h angebot ausbaut, sind vielleicht vier Stunden möglich. Das kann immer noch autokonkurrenzfähig sein.

Und mal ganz ehrlich: wenn ich sehe, was in diesem Video abgeht, dann denke ich, India hat ernsthaftere Probleme als die "zu langsamen Züge". All diese Leute die die Gleise überqueren...
