TGV Paris-Munchen - Wien - Bratislava (Allgemeines Forum)

Hello, is it really, or is it dream OBB and ZSSK? How look now?

Let's be honest: I don't think this is going to happen, unless flying is legally forbidden, the European Community is allowed to override German goverment, or German government is allowed to override local authorities. None of them is likely to happen.

Why should I spend all day in a TGV when I can fly from Paris to Vienna or Bratislava in 1-2 hours?
At present, Paris-Munich is served only 1-2 times a day directly; other connections require you to change in Stuttgart or Mannheim.
And between Stuttgart and Vienna or Bratislava, the TGV is not faster than any other train, be it ICE, railjet or ordinary intercity trains.

Ideally, in order to make this interesting for the TGV, there should be an uninterrupted high-speed line from Strasburg all the way to Vienna.
Or at least, there should be bypasses for Karlsruhe, Ulm, Augsburg, Rosenheim and Salzburg, allowing the TGV to pass these cities at maximum speed as there is no reason to stop there (this is what actually happens in France, Spain and Italy).

Local authorities in Germany will prevent that (to be read as "TGV is required to stop in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Ulm, Augsburg and Munich, otherwise our government is not going to support the project financially").

Such behaviour may send project like these to the land of dreams.

(needless to say, as an ICE fan, I definitively like the idea of a grand unified European high-speed network from Glasgow via Athens to Ankara, from Oslo and Stockholm to Palermo and from Lisbon to Moscow with all capitals and major cities connected with high-speed trains in a one-hour cadence!!!)

And what IC Wien - Bratislava -Košice. IC will comeback after build Wien hbf?

Sounds more reasonable. However, I'll believe it when I see it.

gruß,

Schienenstränge enden nicht an einer Staatsgrenze, sondern an einem Prellbock.
