Ich dachte, ExpressFreak wollte... (Allgemeines Forum)

the first step into the new century of modern, convenient travel. With their enhancements of speed and quality and being friendly to our planet they have started a new era of transportation.....

... ein Referat für einen Englisch-Kurs halten und nicht eine PowerPoint-Präsentation für Manager? :-))

Und "friendly to our planet" ohne näheren Kommentar ist gerade in Bezug auf HGV-Strecken angreifbar, wo der Energieverbrauch im Vergleich zu sonstigen Strecken drastisch ansteigt. Friendly to our planet ist die Bahn insgesamt.

Vorschlag zur Eröffnung?

With the introduction of ICE travel in Germany, several new rail lines have been constructed where the ICE can go at full speed. The same has been done by many other countries introducing high-speed trains.

Newly constructed lines are far more expensive than the ICE itself. Why this effort?
Firstly because existing lines have not been designed for ICE speed and usually cannot be upgraded, in particular in mountaineous areas.
But secondly, many existing lines are totally crowded and unable to handle any further increase of traffic. If, for the sake of our planet, we want more traffic (including more freight traffic) to be done by rail, new lines will be unavoidable at long term. So why not design these for ICE speed straight away?

(Aber bitte das Englisch vorher nachprüfen, ob wirklich alles so stimmt...)

Schöne Grüße
